# EvidInvest alternatives, compared honestly

> One page per named product. Each states what the other product does better, prints the
> source URL and the date checked on every table row, writes “not stated” wherever the other
> company’s own pages are silent, and lists the limits on the EvidInvest side.

## What each page says, in one line

- **EdgarTools** — EdgarTools is a free, MIT-licensed Python library that reads SEC EDGAR filings as structured data inside your own process — its README describes it as a way to “parse financial statements, insider trades, fund holdings, proxy statements, and 20+ other filing types with a consistent Python API”. EvidInvest is the other shape of the same job: a hosted REST API and MCP server over already-standardized statements, where you write no parsing code and the vendor owns the pipeline.
- **Beat and Raise** — Beat and Raise is a free SEC filings research tool that shows EDGAR documents exactly as the company filed them — its home page calls it “The research tool for people who actually read company filings” and offers browsing, financial statements and full-text search as “free forever”, plus an AI chat and a hosted MCP server. EvidInvest starts from the other end: the same filings normalized into one standardized statement schema you can query as an API, with each US row from fiscal 2009 carrying the accession number it came from.
- **Financial Modeling Prep** — Financial Modeling Prep is a subscription market data API — its own home page offers “real-time quotes and over 30 years of financial data — including historical prices, fundamentals, insider transactions and more via API” across stocks, ETFs, funds, indices, forex, crypto and commodities. EvidInvest is deliberately narrower: SEC-filed fundamentals and filing text, standardized back to fiscal 1985, where each US statement row from fiscal 2009 carries the accession number and sec.gov URL behind it, sold as prepaid credits rather than a monthly plan.
- **EODHD** — EODHD is a subscription market data API that its own home page describes as covering “Stocks, ETFs & Forex — real-time, historical, and end-of-day financial data”, stated elsewhere as 60+ exchanges, 150,000+ tickers and 30+ years of history through a single REST API. EvidInvest overlaps it on one column only — standardized fundamentals — and differs on what sits behind each row: US statement rows from fiscal 2009 carry the accession number and sec.gov URL of the filing they came from, and access is prepaid credits rather than a monthly plan.
- **sec-api.io** — sec-api.io is a hosted API over the SEC EDGAR archive, operated by Data2Value GmbH — its home page calls it “your gateway to search the latest SEC filings and access all corporate documents from the SEC EDGAR archive filed since 1993”, and its catalogue spans filing search, full-text search, a WebSocket stream, XBRL-to-JSON conversion, section extraction, insider trades, 13F holdings and executive compensation. EvidInvest is a narrower product built on the opposite premise: statements normalized into one schema comparable across companies and forty years, with each US row from fiscal 2009 carrying the accession number of the filing it came from, plus transcript search and valuation on top.
- **Alpha Vantage** — Alpha Vantage is a market data API whose own home page says it “provides realtime and historical financial market data through a set of powerful and developer-friendly data APIs and spreadsheets” — stated in its docs as 130 endpoints across 9 asset classes, from stocks, options and fundamentals to forex, crypto, commodities and 53 technical indicators, with NASDAQ naming it an officially licensed US market data provider. EvidInvest overlaps it on one column only — standardized fundamentals — and differs on what sits behind each row: US statement rows from fiscal 2009 carry the accession number and sec.gov URL of the filing they came from, and access is prepaid credits rather than a per-minute rate plan.
- **Massive** — Massive is the US market data platform formerly known as Polygon.io — every polygon.io URL now redirects to massive.com — selling per-asset-class subscriptions for stocks, options, futures, indices and currencies, from a free end-of-day tier to real-time feeds with nanosecond-timestamped tick history, plus financial statements since 2009 and SEC filings text endpoints. EvidInvest overlaps it on standardized fundamentals and filings, and differs on what sits behind each row: US statement rows from fiscal 2009 carry the accession number and sec.gov URL of the filing they came from, and access is prepaid credits rather than a per-asset-class subscription.

## How these pages are written

- A capability the other vendor does not state on its own pages is written “not stated”, never
guessed and never inferred from silence.
- Every comparison row carries the competitor page it was read off and the ISO date it was read.
- Each page names what the other product genuinely does better.
- Each page states the limits on the EvidInvest side: filing links begin at fiscal 2009, Form 13F
is a website surface rather than an MCP tool, and listings outside the US are EvidInvest’s
standardized statements with no SEC filing behind them.
