# Massive (formerly Polygon.io) vs EvidInvest: unlimited market-data calls per asset class, or cited SEC statements on prepaid credits

> Massive is the US market data platform formerly known as Polygon.io — every polygon.io URL now redirects to massive.com — selling per-asset-class subscriptions for stocks, options, futures, indices and currencies, from a free end-of-day tier to real-time feeds with nanosecond-timestamped tick history, plus financial statements since 2009 and SEC filings text endpoints. EvidInvest overlaps it on standardized fundamentals and filings, and differs on what sits behind each row: US statement rows from fiscal 2009 carry the accession number and sec.gov URL of the filing they came from, and access is prepaid credits rather than a per-asset-class subscription.
> Every claim about Massive below was read off its own pages on 2026-09-30;
> the source URL and that date are printed on each comparison row.

## Who Massive suits

Massive suits developers whose product is price data. The stocks plans run from a free tier (5 API calls per minute, 2 years of end-of-day history) through Starter at $29/month with unlimited API calls, WebSocket aggregates and 5 years of history, to Advanced at $199/month with real-time data, 20+ years of history and financials included — and parallel plans cover options, futures, indices, forex and crypto. SEC filings text (10-K sections, 8-K items, classified risk factors) is included in every stocks plan, the free one too.

## What Massive does better

- Market data depth EvidInvest does not attempt: WebSocket streams for trades, NBBO quotes and second bars, real-time entitlement on Stocks Advanced, and flat files with “Tick level nanosecond timestamped trade data”. EvidInvest is delayed-only at any price, with no streaming and no tick data.
- Asset-class breadth on parallel plans: options, futures (CME, CBOT, NYMEX and COMEX), indices, and a currencies plan covering “All Forex and Crypto Tickers”. EvidInvest has none of these.
- Unlimited API calls from $29/month: every paid stocks tier removes rate metering entirely — there is no per-minute plan ladder to climb.
- SEC filings text in every plan including the free one: 10-K section text with a sec.gov filing_url, parsed 8-K item text with accession numbers, risk factors classified into a category scheme, and an EDGAR master index endpoint.
- An agent-native pay-per-request path: the x402 integration lets an agent pay per request in USDC with no account and no API key, covering end-of-day US stocks data and the filings endpoints, with only successful requests charged.
- An official hosted MCP server at mcp.massive.com with OAuth, plus an MIT-licensed self-hosted server whose built-ins include SQL over pulled results, Black-Scholes pricing and Sharpe/Sortino ratios.

## What EvidInvest does differently

- EvidInvest is fundamentals and filings only. No streaming, no tick data, no options, futures, forex or crypto, and no real-time entitlement — a much narrower product than Massive, deliberately.
- Every US statement row from fiscal 2009 carries the form, period, filing date, accession number and sec.gov URL of the filing where that fiscal year first appeared, over REST and MCP alike — where Massive’s statement rows carry a filing_date their docs define as the most recent filing that included the data, with the original filing left to a separate EDGAR index lookup.
- Filing and earnings-transcript search return the passage as filed with its accession number and sec.gov URL — retrieval by question, not by section download.
- Coverage is not US-only: besides the US series, 40,000+ non-US listings on 60+ exchanges carry standardized statements (with the limits stated below).
- Valuation is part of the product: seven methods including reverse DCF, each solved for what today’s price implies, with the inputs shown and adjustable.
- The billing model is prepaid credits with no subscription, no per-asset-class tiering and no crypto wallet — one balance across the website, the REST API and the MCP server.

## Side by side

| Capability | Massive | EvidInvest | Source (read on) |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| What you are actually getting | A US market data platform, formerly Polygon.io (polygon.io now redirects to massive.com): per-asset-class subscriptions for stocks, options, futures, indices and currencies, spanning end-of-day bars to real-time WebSockets and tick-level flat files, with fundamentals and SEC filings text endpoints on the stocks side. | A fundamentals and filings service: standardized statements, cited filing and transcript search, supply-chain facts from 10-K text and valuation, as a website, a REST API and an MCP server. | https://massive.com/pricing (2026-09-30) |
| Data source and how far back it goes | Stock price history scales with the tier: 2 years on the free plan, 5 on Starter, 10 on Developer, 20+ on Advanced. For financial statements, the docs state “Records date back to March 29, 2009”, with quarterly, annual and trailing-twelve-month periods, updated daily. | Standardized annual statements from fiscal 1985 — 30+ annual periods on file for 5,000+ US-listed companies. The difference is what each row carries with it. | https://massive.com/pricing (2026-09-30) |
| Standardized statements across companies | Yes: income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and ratios as versioned REST endpoints — “Historical financials for 6.5k companies, current ratios for 4.4k tickers” — but only on Stocks Advanced at $199/month or the standalone $29/month Financials & Ratios add-on. The free, Starter and Developer stocks tiers list financials as not included. | Yes — one normalized schema for income statement, balance sheet and cash flow, annual and quarterly, over both the US and the non-US universe, on every credit pack. | https://massive.com/pricing (2026-09-30) |
| Citations on each statement row | No accession number or source-document link on statement rows. The income-statement docs define the row’s filing_date as “the most recent SEC filing that included this period’s data”, “not necessarily the date this period was originally filed”, and point to a separate EDGAR index endpoint to locate the original filing. | Row-level: every US statement row from fiscal 2009 carries filing_date, accession and a sec.gov source_url for the filing where that fiscal year first appeared, over REST and MCP alike. Pre-2009 rows carry null rather than a fabricated link. | https://massive.com/docs/rest/stocks/fundamentals/income-statements.md (2026-09-30) |
| SEC filing text (10-K, 10-Q, 8-K) | Substantial, and included in every stocks plan: 10-K section text (business, risk factors and more) with a sec.gov filing_url, parsed 8-K item text with accession numbers, risk factors classified into a three-level category scheme, and an EDGAR master index. 10-Q sections are not in the endpoint index. Retrieval is by section download per filing, not by search. | Filing search returns the passage as filed with its accession number and sec.gov URL — you ask a question and get the cited paragraph, rather than downloading a section to scan. Supply-chain facts are extracted from 10-K text with the same citation. | https://massive.com/docs/rest/stocks/filings/10-k-sections.md (2026-09-30) |
| Earnings-call transcripts | Not stated. The REST endpoint index spans prices, fundamentals, filings text and news; an earnings-call transcript endpoint is stated nowhere on the pages checked. | Yes — earnings-call transcript search is one of the tools, on both REST and MCP, returning the passage with its citation. | https://massive.com/llms.txt (2026-09-30) |
| Institutional ownership | Stated in the endpoint index: 13-F filings, Form 3 and Form 4 endpoints are listed alongside the 8-K disclosure categories and the EDGAR master index. | Form 13F holdings are published on the website, at evidinvest.com/holders/{SYMBOL}. They are not one of the MCP tools, so an agent cannot query them from EvidInvest today — for agent access to ownership, Massive states more than we do. | https://massive.com/llms.txt (2026-09-30) |
| Valuation models (DCF, reverse DCF, fair value) | Not stated. The platform ships technical indicators, and the self-hosted MCP server’s built-in functions include Black-Scholes pricing and Sharpe and Sortino ratios — but discounted cash flow, fair value and intrinsic value are stated nowhere on the pages checked. | Seven methods — DCF, reverse DCF, P/E growth, earnings power, Graham, EV/EBITDA, EV/FCF and P/E versus sector — each solved for what today’s price implies, with every input shown and adjustable. No buy or sell verdict is produced. | https://github.com/massive-com/mcp_massive (2026-09-30) |
| Real-time versus delayed prices | The full ladder: end-of-day on the free tier, 15-minute delayed on Starter and Developer, real-time on Advanced — plus WebSocket streams for trades, NBBO quotes and second bars, and flat files with “Tick level nanosecond timestamped trade data”. | Delayed only. Prices are Cboe data delayed at least fifteen minutes, labelled as such on every price-bearing response, with daily history back to 2004. There is no real-time tier. | https://massive.com/llms.txt (2026-09-30) |
| Coverage outside the US | US only on the stocks side — “the entire universe of US equities data”, sourced from the SIPs and FINRA TRFs. | 40,000+ non-US listings on 60+ exchanges with standardized statements and end-of-day prices — with the honest limit that no SEC filing sits behind them (see the limits below). | https://massive.com/stocks (2026-09-02) |
| MCP server | Yes, official and hosted: mcp.massive.com, signed in with OAuth, built as three general tools — endpoint search, parameter docs and a run-any-REST-call tool — over the whole API, with access mirroring your plan’s entitlements, “64 MB of working storage per session” and “up to 10 concurrent workspaces”. A self-hosted MIT-licensed server is on GitHub. | Hosted at mcp.evidinvest.com/mcp over Streamable HTTP, 59 tools, OAuth 2.1 in the browser so Claude and ChatGPT need no key pasted, or an API key as a bearer token. | https://massive.com/docs/ai-tools/quickstart (2026-09-30) |
| Price and billing model | Per-asset-class subscriptions, shown monthly-billed in USD: stocks at $0, $29 (Starter), $79 (Developer) and $199 (Advanced); the Financials & Ratios add-on at $29/month standalone; options and futures on the same price points; indices at $0/$49/$99; currencies at $0/$49. A “Save 20% with the annual plan” toggle covers annual billing. Every individual plan is marked “Individual use”; Stocks Advanced adds “Non-pros only”; business pricing is a separate track. The x402 path charges agents per request in USDC with no account. | The website is free with no account. AI analyses and API/MCP usage draw on prepaid credits: Starter $10 for 360 credits, Plus $20 for 720, Pro $59 for 2,000. Credits never expire and there is no subscription and no per-asset-class tiering. | https://massive.com/pricing (2026-09-30) |

## Pick Massive if…

your product needs market data rather than filing provenance. Real-time entitlements, WebSocket trades and quotes, nanosecond tick history, options, futures, indices, forex and crypto — none of which EvidInvest carries — with unlimited API calls from $29/month, SEC filings text on every tier including the free one, and an agent-payable x402 path that needs no account at all.

## Pick EvidInvest if…

you need each US statement row to name the filing it came from, so a person or a model can open the 10-K and check the number rather than trusting a field — Massive’s own docs route that lookup through a separate EDGAR index endpoint. Also if you want filing and transcript passages retrieved by question with their accession numbers, earnings-call transcripts at all, valuation models over the same data, standardized statements outside the US, or a prepaid balance instead of one subscription per asset class.

## Where EvidInvest is the weaker choice

- Filing links start at fiscal 2009. That is where the SEC’s structured XBRL data begins, so US statement rows from fiscal 2009 onward carry the form, period, filing date, accession number and sec.gov URL — and rows older than that carry the standardized figures with a null citation rather than a fabricated link. The series still runs back to fiscal 1985; the link does not.
- Institutional ownership from Form 13F is published on the website, at evidinvest.com/holders/{SYMBOL}, and is not one of the MCP tools. If you need 13F positions inside an agent or a script today, EvidInvest is not the way to get them.
- Coverage outside the US is standardized statements, not filing links. The 40,000+ non-US listings on 60+ exchanges are normalized by EvidInvest with end-of-day prices; there is no SEC filing behind them, no source document to open, and nothing like the 1985-deep history the US series has.
- Prices are Cboe data delayed at least fifteen minutes and labelled as such on every response. There is no real-time feed, no tick data, no full options chain archive and no crypto at any price. Options positioning is previous-session only.
- Quarterly statements do not reach as far back as the annual series, so a decades-long quarterly panel is not available.
- EvidInvest is a hosted service. There is no open-source distribution and nothing to run inside your own network — if that is a requirement, stop reading here.

## FAQ

### Is Polygon.io the same as Massive?

Yes. Every polygon.io URL checked on 30 September 2026 returns a 301 redirect to massive.com, and the old polygon-io MCP repository on GitHub redirects to massive-com/mcp_massive. The plans, docs and MCP server described on this page are Massive’s — there is no separate Polygon.io product left to compare.

### Does Massive have a free tier?

Yes. Stocks Basic costs $0 and includes 5 API calls per minute, 2 years of history, end-of-day data, reference data, corporate actions, technical indicators and minute bars — and the SEC filings text endpoints are included in every stocks plan. Financial statements are not in the free tier.

### Does Massive provide financial statements?

Yes — income statements, balance sheets, cash flow statements and ratios, quarterly, annual and trailing-twelve-month, with “Records date back to March 29, 2009” — but only on Stocks Advanced at $199/month or the standalone $29/month Financials & Ratios add-on. Statement rows carry no accession number; the docs define the row’s filing_date as the most recent filing that included the data and point to a separate EDGAR index endpoint for the original filing.

### Does Massive have an MCP server?

Yes, an official hosted one at mcp.massive.com with OAuth sign-in, built as three general tools — endpoint search, parameter docs and a run-any-REST-call tool — plus an MIT-licensed self-hosted server on GitHub. Access mirrors your subscription’s entitlements. EvidInvest’s MCP server is also hosted with OAuth 2.1 and covers cited statements, filing and transcript search, supply-chain facts and valuation as purpose-built tools.

### Can an AI agent pay Massive per request?

Yes, through x402: the agent pays per request in USDC on Base with no account and no API key, covering end-of-day US stocks data and the SEC filings endpoints — not tick data, streaming or other asset classes — and only successful requests are charged. EvidInvest’s equivalent is prepaid credits bought once and spent across the website, the REST API and the MCP server, with no wallet involved.
